The Wirelings mission

The Wirelings create meaningful, experimental, and accessible theatrical encounters under unprecedented circumstances. The Wirelings center intimate, emotionally authentic, and direct connections between the performer and the audience.

The Wirelings values

To be a Wireling is more than simply to perform in digital theatre. A Wireling is:
  1. Adaptable -- each experiment builds on the one before only in so much as one must take one step in order to take another. We are not obligated to one distinct aesthetic of performance or text, nor are we obligated to always change. Living things adapt and respond. Our theatre is alive.
  2. Transparent -- as a poor theatre, dedicated to fair wages for the labor of art, we are committed to transparency both within the company and to our external supporters of the ways in which our finances are directed.
  3. Excited -- an experiment only succeeds if all the participants are excited by it. When Wirelings agree to collaborate on an experiment, that agreement comes out of what excites us about a particular question, project, text, or collaborator. Excitement, or lack thereof, is the first test for any hypothesis.
  4. Communitarian -- a Wireling, as a collaborator, is focused on the whole that is created by many Wirelings working together. We are focused on the community we build together in each experiment, and across all of our experiments.
